Worth "Thinking" About

The work never ends you know....We are imperfect, but we can strive everyday to be better, kinder, more compassionate, more outside of ourselves, less about what we need and more about caring and helping those within our reach. Reaching this higher place takes constant attention and observation of one's thoughts and actions, which then may again lead one back to egocentric thinking, be watchful of this. Even the simple ritual of practicing gratefulness can often be misunderstood as an exercise for oneself, when it should rather be an exercise of recognizing, acknowledging, and reaching out with words and actions of thankfulness to others and our environment. Your soul's growth begins with extending yourself, your thoughts, your compassion, your actions to others, and then building on that, striving not to return to self service--the place of the ego.

The mind is a superb instrument if used rightly. Used wrongly, however, it becomes very destructive. To put it more accurately, it is not so much that you use your mind wrongly — you usually don’t use it at all. It uses you. This is the disease. You believe that you are your mind. This is the delusion. The instrument has taken you over
Not all thinking and all emotion are of the ego. They turn into ego only when you identify with them and they take you over completely, that is to say, when they become “I.”
